Proverbs 31 Man

If someone would ask what could be the veritable Bible verse that could serve as a guide on how to live as a godly woman, It is easy to remember the Proverbs 31 verse.

Proverbs 31 gives a picture of the virtuous woman. This is not only beneficial to ladies but to single men as well, in search of their God's best, since Proverbs 31 describes the ideal lady of quality. This in turn, protects godly men from being deceived and lured into shallow traps and serves them a potent reminder that an enduring marriage is built on a firm foundation. This list of the qualities of a godly wife assists young men in choosing a woman since it lists down the godly characteristics of a woman that they should consider marrying.

This made me think and wonder what the Bible says of the godly characteristics of a man that we should consider marrying.
What Bible verse could we use in discerning the supreme God's best for ladies?
What Bible passage is analogous to the Proverbs 31 woman that could give us the characteristics and qualities of a man that we should consider marrying?
What is a Proverbs 31 man?
What bible quote should we use to help us choose the qualities of a godly husband?
What should serve as our criterion in choosing our life partner?
What should be our standards in choosing God's choice?
What should serve as our "peg" for the "God's best" intended for us?
Since ladies are eyeing to be Proverbs 31 Woman for this godly men, Proverbs 31 will lead us in on what a Proverbs 31 man should be.

The Proverbs 31 Man is a leader and is a man of wisdom - Proverbs 31:23.
It shows us that he was as a leader in the community since he is respected at the city gate.
He is a man who was sought for advice since he took "his place among the elders".

He was a sounding board for those looking for information and advice.
He seeks Godly wisdom, which developed his skills in making efficient and well-thought out decisions.
Being considered a leader is an earned position, not solely based on one's age.

He is a man of prayer and encouragement - Proverbs 31:28.
He appreciates the contributions of his wife.

With these, we can basically assume that since our our husbands would be someone who will be our Spiritual Leader in the family, it is extremely important that we choose a genuine spiritual leader, so that obedience to them wouldn't be much of a struggle for us. We should consider a person who is wise, so that we can submit lovingly to him.

But what are the specific qualities of a great leader?
During the time of Paul, religious leaders are known to be deacons. It is such a blessing for us ladies that Paul had enumerated the qualifications for deacons in 1Timothy3.

If there is a Proverbs 31 Woman for the man, we have a 1Timothy3 Man that could serve as our checklist for an ideal godly husband, while men can use this as a guide on how to be a godly man.

1 Timothy 3 essentially speaks of how a deacon should behave.

It is somewhat surprising to find out that the characteristics of the wise in Proverbs 31 is remarkably well similar to how the deacons in 1 Timothy 3 are described.

1Timothy 3 summarized what Proverbs has taught in greater detail.

1 Timothy 3 Man

Our selection of God's best should be made on the basis of character, not appeal or outer beauty. God's best should reflect the characteristics of one who has wisdom.

Our God's best should not be the kind of person that Proverbs warns us not to join, but will hold the qualities of a good friend. We should be more concerned about character. Some have tended to confuse or connect it to personality. Most of us have the tendency to think that the perfect men are the ones who are violent, lively and confident. Some men think that the “submissive” wife is the woman who is withdrawn.

Personality has been mistaken with character. God is more concerned with our character than our personality. Not all aggressive guys are better leaders, just as they are not necessarily godly leaders, nor are passive women certainly more submissive. Let us know that our character is far more valuable than our outer beauty or our personality.

Peter taught the women who are often more sensitive to outward appearance to allow adornment be not just outside like braiding the hair, putting on dresses, and wearing gold jewelry but it should be that of the inner self, the gentle, gracious kind that is of immense value in God’s sight.

In Proverbs, we are told that beauty is dishonest and transient.

Our personality may be inaccurate, for we may be both attractive and spiritually erotic. And beauty is fleeting, but character is immortal. Let us strive to be godly.

Seek godly character where God will be honored in your marriage.

The qualities of a caring friend are also the qualities of a godly.

Every Christian should strive to meet the qualifications which are laid down for those who would make such offices. Let us try to be godly first and encourage other believers to try it also. Let us prove to the lost that godliness and wisdom are worth the price, and are available only to those who fear the Lord.

1 Timothy 3 Man

My spiritual mentor has shared to me that we as ladies, given that we need a man who are spiritual leaders since they will stand as spiritual leader of our family.

What a Church Leader Must Be Like

It is true that if a man wants to be a church leader, he wants to do a good work. A church leader must be a good man. His life must be so no one can say anything against him. He must have only one wife and must be respected for his good living. He must be willing to take people into his home. He must be willing to learn and able to teach the Word of God. He must not get drunk or want to fight. Instead, he must be gentle. He must not have a love for money. He should be a good leader in his own home. His children must obey and respect him. If a man cannot be a good leader in his own home, how can he lead the church? A church leader must not be a new Christian. A new Christian might become proud and fall into sin which is brought on by the devil. A church leader must be respected by people who are not Christians so nothing can be said against him. In that way, he will not be trapped by the devil.

What the Church Helpers Must Be Like

Church helpers must also be good men and act so people will respect them. They must speak the truth. They must not get drunk. They must not have a love for money. They must have their faith in Christ and be His follower with a heart that says they are right. They must first be tested to see if they are ready for the work as church helpers. Then if they do well, they may be chosen as church helpers. The wives of church helpers must be careful how they act. They must not carry stories from one person to another. They must be wise and faithful in all they do. Church helpers must have only one wife. They must lead their home well and their children must obey them. Those who work well as church helpers will be respected by others and their own faith in Christ Jesus will grow.

Why Paul Writes to Timothy

I hope to come to you soon. I am writing these things because it may be awhile before I get there. I wanted you to know how you should act among people in the church which is the house of the living God. The church holds up the truth. It is important to know the secret of God-like living, which is: Christ came to earth as a Man. He was pure in His Spirit. He was seen by angels. The nations heard about Him. Men everywhere put their trust in Him. He was taken up into heaven.

Qualities of a Godly Man according to 1Timothy 3

  • Homemaker
  • Uncompromising faith
  • Stable
  • Blesses his wife
  • Active at the gate
  • Necessary for the family and his wife
  • Dad to his kids

Godly Impact

At all times, we get a chance to have a godly impact on someone. Our reactions in different situations can appoint someone's personal interpretation of the one whom we serve.

As Christians, we should be committed to lifting our friends up, to overlook faults, to go out of our way to meet other people's need, to remember kindness, and to communicate encouragement. No one is irrelevant to God or the people who love Him at all times, we get a chance to have a godly impact on someone.

Jesus does not want us to try hard, He wants us to learn to trust Him.

If we are going to love as Jesus loved, we need the power that only Jesus can give.

If you don't act quickly, your emotions will intensify in you, until they become violent inside you. Emotions are meant to be instructive, not destructive.

Do people around you see something significant in your life that makes them eager to know who you are serving?

Please pray for me that everyone will see and glorify God when they see my actions and reactions to different circumstances. May God help me to relate to other people His love and compassion.

Rumors and Gossips

Rumors and Gossips

They have become filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are gossips. (Romans 1:29)

At one time or another, we have to admit that we are guilty of spreading rumors. It might start off as a burning report done quietly with just a few "close" friends, meant to ruin someone’s integrity or terminate a reputation.

Spreading gossip and rumors are an essential tool of the devil. Nothing hurts a church more than the spreading of false rumors and gossip.

Are you spreading gossip and rumors because of vengeance, jealousy, self-justification or vanity?

Are you secretly involved in this “secret” sin?

Are your friends suffering because of you passing along half-truths, rumors, and gossip?

You shall not give false witness against your neighbor. (Exodus 20:16)
Do not go about spreading slander among your people. Never endanger your neighbor's life. (Leviticus 19:16)

Spreading rumors and information is wrong. It is an unhealthy activity that can unnecessarily bring about unjustified damage to someone and the Lord’s plan.

Refuse to be hearers of unedifying words. But if there are rumors that you can not escape, Deuteronomy 13:14 says “you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly.”

I pray that we all learn to treat others the way we need to be treated.

I understand that in this broken world that we live in, it is difficult.

But being aware that Our Sovereign God is always present, we can do it through Jesus Christ who strengthens us.

Happy Birthday Jose Rizal

Had a long day with my mom.
We went shopping with her as per her request.

On our way home, we took the Light Railway Transit Train to avoid the traffic.
I praise God for the train, it took us only 35 minutes from South to North.

As we were inside the train, I saw a quote by Jose Rizal posted by the wall of the train. His quote says:

Worthless is a life which is not devoted to a greater purpose.
It is like a stone wasted in the farm instead of being a part of an edifice.

This quote reminds me of the Bible verse regarding living a life that is devoted to God.

This is a faithful saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be able to devote themselves to doing what is moral. These things are excellent and rewarding for everyone.

Avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and vain. Warn a divisive person once, and then tell him a second time. Have nothing to do with him after that. That person is warped, wrong and is self-condemned. Our nation must learn to devote themselves to doing what is moral, so that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.
(Titus 3:9-14)

Self - Control

Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.(Proverbs 25:28)

Lately, I had been missing out on my workouts and been food-binging.

At first, I thought what's a little disruption to my diet? It's just rare. Surely, I could easily work it out.

Then I eventually had build my appetite and couldn't check it. My food eating became a habit that's So hard to control.

In spite of the fact that we were exceptionally well, a weakness could impair our lives. Even celebrities, athletes, and presidents who had considerable strengths, also had a weakness in their nature that could eventually be their downfall.

Self-indulgence, in the form of lack of restraint or disorderly life, could undermine us. It can be the way we spend money, sex, and my weakness now, which is food. It can be alcohol, emotions, or the way we manage our time.

Anything that's left out of control could impair our life. It may seem like just a little thing, but little things can have a tremendous impact in our life.

We cannot baby minor weaknesses and think they won't eventually take over and undermine our whole life. It doesn't make any difference what area of our life is out of control — time, money, food, sex, attitudes, whatever.

It's just a matter of time before that lack of control begins to undermine the way we live for God.

Whatever one sows, he shall also reap. Those who live to satisfy their own flesh will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who plant for the benefit of the Spirit will reap everlasting life from the Spirit. (Galatians 6:7-8)

Where do you get the power to gain control back into your life?

Give your weaknesses to Jesus, and then follow the steps he tells you to take.

God is powerful, and he wants you powerful.(Ephesians 6:10)

What are weaknesses in your life that indicate a lack of self-control?

What steps do you think God is telling you to consider today to move away from those weaknesses and into greater strength?

Having no self-control means doing whatever pleases you despite the consequences involved.

Please pray for self-control for me on my stewardship of my time and my appetite.
Kindly pray for me that God would give me wisdom, discernment and awareness to end on things that are not glorifying to Him.

Please pray that God will help me to reign in my emotions, passions, and desires and make them subject to the Holy Spirit.

Obedience

Obedience

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore, no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become aware of our sin.(Romans 3:19-20)

Have you been silenced by the demands of God’s just logic?

Then you probably have heard of His redemptive grace.

Have you ceased bragging of yourself?
Has the law stopped your boasting in your charitable works?

If not, then you are most probably a moralist.

However, we could not say that you are a believer.

A believer is someone who has undergone the bill’s elimination of their moral integrity.

But if you have stopped, then you most probably have experienced the phenomenal success in His presence, tasting the sweetness of Paul's testimony:

Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake, I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God's way of making us right with himself, depends on faith. (Philippians 3:8-9)

As God's children, He only wants what is best for us.

Our lives will only be satisfied as we fulfill the will of God's plan for our lives.

We must be considered Christians wherever we find ourselves.
We should keep His commandments if we genuinely love God.

God does not want us to obey Him, out of compulsion, but out of our grateful hearts to Him.

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a problem, for that would be of no benefit to you. (Hebrews 13:17)

The essence of our leaders is to help people grow in Christ.
Cooperative followers considerably ease the burden of leadership.
Do your actions make your leaders report joyfully about you?

Everyone needs prayers including our leaders.
Our Christian leaders are exposed to attack from others, pride(if they succeed) and depression(if they fail), and the enemy's constant efforts to destroy their work for God.
They desperately need our prayers.

Do you pray for them—pleading with God for a blessing upon their work?
Do you push them drawing alongside true-hearted brothers and sisters, assuring them your prayers and concern?
