My Birthday Outreach

God has blessed me with so much that It is such a joy to be able to share the joy of receiving grace, as well as the joy of being God's instrument of sharing His grace on my birthday.

God impressing upon my heart a compassion for the less fortunate kids in Quezon City, has planted in my heart the desire that 100 Out of School Kids would come to know God’s love for them through my birthday outreach.

I am very much grateful for each and everyone who had been part of my Birthday Outreach.

Thank you for all your generous help for my Birthday Celebration.

Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and treasure.

From the Bottom of my Heart, I truly appreciate every little help that everyone has shared for this event.

You have given joy, not only to me but to all the 100 plus kids and their families that have been blessed by the outreach.

I pray that God will return all the blessings to you and your family pressed down, shaken together and overflowing!

Thank you for being one of God's blessings to me in my life... and I pray that as we grow closer that God will be glorified in our friendship.

May you all be blessed as you are a blessing. I love you with the love of the Lord.

To God be all the glory!

“If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are.” ― Mother Teresa

“Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to His voice in the depth of our hearts.” ― Mother Teresa

“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”
― Mother Teresa

“It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” ― Mother Teresa

“I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will not ask, 'How many good things have you done in your life?' rather he will ask, 'How much love did you put into what you did?” ― Mother Teresa

“God made the world for the delight of human beings-- if we could see His goodness everywhere, His concern for us, His awareness of our needs: the phone call we've waited for, the ride we are offered, the letter in the mail, just the little things He does for us throughout the day. As we remember and notice His love for us, we just begin to fall in love with Him because He is so busy with us -- you just can't resist Him. I believe there's no such thing as luck in life, it's God's love, it's His.”  ― Mother Teresa

Trisha Sebastian and Jerosa Lim in Fitness First
Fitness First

Discipline is simply the difference of what you want now... and what you want the most.

For the longest time, I had been physically unhealthy.

I had stopped being conscious of what I eat.
I had suspended going to the gym to train and build muscles.
Until I got the shock of my life - to realize that I am already a whopping 130 lbs!
I hardly noticed how I gained all these weight from my normal weight which is 112 lbs.

I have gained these unwanted pounds gradually.

I can blame no one for this but myself.
As I look in the mirror I could no longer recognize myself.
This awareness prods me to make a conscious decision.

Being the fighter that I am, I refused any desire to pity myself. It gets me nowhere anyway.

With man, this is impossible, but with God nothing is impossible. (Matthew 19:26)

Asking for God's help, I asked for the desire and the motivation to keep fit for His glory.

If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves;
But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.
(Proverbs 29:18)

A man without a goal is like ship without a rudder. - Thomas Carlyle

Next Steps:

1. Purge Unnecessary Diet that keeps me from my Goal
If my goal is to be physically fit, then I should refrain from all the food that keeps me away from my desired goal.

Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal. -  E. Joseph Crossman

2. Acquire habits that will lead me closer to my Goal.
To strengthen and build muscles, I am blessed to be enrolled in a gym, so that I could work out as well as improve my body's metabolism.

Spiritual Disciplines

This is just like our spiritual health, we have to always be conscious.

What is your spiritual goal?

Do you want it so bad, that nothing would be able to keep you from keeping fit?

What spiritual disciplines do you plan to apply in order to reach this goal?

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. - Frederick Douglass

Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. - Martin Luther King, Jr.

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of those depths. - Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

God will always equip you with what you will need.  You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. (Philippians 4:13)

I pray that these words of Paul would inspire you:

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. And everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I buffet my body and make it my slave, lest possibly, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified. (1 Corinthians 9)

Have a blessed week Saint!

How to Deal with Gossips

How to Deal with Gossips

“Strong minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, weak minds discuss people.”

The people who are talking trash about you won't be in your life in the future, nor will they help you get there. If you figure out your friend is talking behind your back, then maybe they aren't really a friend after all.

Build the relationship, or cut it off, depending on how serious it is.

People who talk about others will talk about you.

People who don't have anything better to do than talk trash about someone, have low self-esteem. You do not need this kind of people in your life. Life is too short to spend with people who suck the happiness out of you.

Speak the Truth in Love

Sometimes, speaking the truth in love means losing friends.
Your real friends will stick with you.
Confront the Gossip.
Choose your battles.
Some relationships are worth keeping, but some relationships are unhealthy.
Be Friendly to Everyone but Choose your Best friend wisely.
Surround yourself with amazing people!

Treat this person like anybody else.
The words that come out of their mouths just shows what kind of person the gossip is. It has nothing to do with you.

It is better to give forgiveness than to need forgiveness. Treat it as
an opportunity for you to strengthen your skill in patience. See it as a great opportunity and blessing to be that steward of Christ to give that mercy, grace and unconditional love.

Enjoy Life

Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

Tact is a gift

Not everyone knows how to speak tactfully.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29 NIV

Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

How to Overcome Struggles

This morning, I was frustrated with someone who has been constantly coming up with different excuses.

My frustration was out of the fact that I can see that the only thing standing between this person and the goal of this person to change is excuses.

Rationalization is a process of not seeing reality, but of trying to make truth fit one’s feelings.

How to Overcome Struggles

As I lift my emotions to God, He has shown me, that if I give in to how I feel and spoke as I felt fair for rudeness and disrespect, I am no different to this person and the excuses that this person has.

God is truly faithful when He said that if we ask according to His will, He hears us. And that in whatever we ask we know that we have asked of Him.

Being patient is definitely His will, so when I asked, I have received. God reminded me, that despite being hurt, true patience choose not to hold a grudge.  Patience allows hurt to melt away and continue to offer love and acceptance. Jesus told me to always forgive. True patience chooses not to allow another person’s actions to dictate my reactions and cause me to sin.

Ephesians 4:26-27 tells me to not give the devil opportunity to win, knowing that the enemy would love me to throw my patience out.

Mercy is not giving others what they deserve. Hebrews 10:30 says that I am not responsible for paybacks. God tells me to choose to be merciful and kind.  1 Peter 3:8-9 tells me that true patience blesses others – even when they have said something rotten.  True patience means keep on keeping on even when there is pressure.

You see in life, we don’t have any valid excuses to fail.

Not because my feelings are invalid, but because I have no  reason worthy enough for me to disobey my Creator.

When I come to think of it this way, It does not even matter if my feelings are valid. It does not even matter what the other person’s transgressions are towards me.
What matters for me is that I please my King, my Life, who only has the greatest plans for me.

What matters is that we consecrate ourselves completely to the lover of our soul.

You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight.

To have God’s blessing in  life, we need to learn how to be civil toward people. God wants us to do that.

Jesus commands us that In everything, we must do to others what we would have them do to us.

To be civil is to treat other people the way we like to be treated, even if we disagree with them — even if they’re wrong. Even if they’re fighting against us, we must treat them the way we would like to be treated.

This prayer and Fasting Week, I pray that you would Enter the Throne of Grace boldly, knowing that whatever we ask according to His will, will be given. Taste and see that the Lord is Good!

Have a blessed Prayer and Fasting. How can I pray for you?

How to be a Good Christian Leader

How to be a Good Christian Leader

Do everything in Love. (1 Corinthians 6:14)

Christian leadership is a leadership that exemplifies Jesus Christ.

  • Be a good role model of godliness and righteousness in your own life and encourage others to follow.
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1)
  • A Christian leader is one who follows Christ and inspires others to follow Him as well.

  • A Christian leader nourishes his flock.
Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. (Deuteronomy 8:3)
  • The Word of God is the only food that can produce healthy Christians.
  • Feed and nourish the sheep with the  Word of God.

  • Comfort the sheep, Bind up their wounds and Apply the balm of compassion and love.
bind up the injured and strengthen the weak. (Ezekiel 34:16)
  • Christians today, suffer many spiritual injuries. Christians need compassionate leaders who will help bear burdens.
  • Christian leaders sympathize with circumstances and exhibit patience, encourage in the Word, and bring concerns before God.

  • A Christian leader exhibits love by correcting or disciplining those under his care, even when it is an unpleasant experience.
Without an overbearing spirit, but with a “spirit of gentleness”. (Galatians 6:2)
  • Correct and Discipline those in care when they go astray.
The LORD disciplines those he loves.  (Proverbs 3:12)

  • A Christian leader should correct according to Biblical principles.
I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.(John 14:6)

  • A Correction or discipline is never a pleasant experience, but a Christian leader who fails in this area is not exhibiting love for those in his care.

  • A Christian leader protects their people from false teachings of those who would lead them astray from the truth of the Scripture. Christ alone is the way of salvation.
Jesus warned us: “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. (Matthew 7:15)
  • Predators are those who try to lure the sheep away with false doctrine, dismissing the Bible as quaint and old-fashioned, insufficient, unclear, or unknowable.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (John 10:11)

Under the plan God has ordained for the church, Leadership is a position of humble, loving service. Those whom God designates as leaders are called not to be governing monarchs, but humble slaves; not slick celebrities, but laboring servants.  Those who would lead God's people, must above all, exemplify Jesus Himself who gave us the pattern when He stooped to wash His disciples' feet, a task that was customarily done by the lowest of slaves (John 13).

If the Lord of the universe would do that, no church leader has a right to think of himself as a bigwig.

Walking the Ancient Paths

This is what the Lord says:
“Stand at the crossroads and look;
    ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.
But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
Jeremiah 6:16

Some of you are probably at a crossroad in your life.
Closing a chapter in your life
Or in a new chapter in your life....

Beware of busyness without stillness
1. Stand by the ways and see
Stop and look at the larger picture. Come back in real life and don't rush any longer.
Go back to The Lord.

Start with your Stop Doing List.
Stop, examine and Look.
Beware of knowledge without wisdom.

2. Ask for the Ancient Paths

At times, we assume we know.
We don't think we are lost.
We assume we would be able to find a way out.

Wisdom is acquired by asking.

"Where the good way is"
"Tov" - excellent, great, praiseworthy

What is the Ancient paths?
Ancient - "olam"
describe distance - far far away
describe  time - long long ago
It means eternal. Concept is timeless. Distant past and future.

Many directions
Timeless word
Timeless God in timeless scripture.

This is the ultimate reality.

Why ask Paths-plural?
Because God understands that from our perspective, life is complex.
God has a timeless revelation for every contingency and turn of life.
God has a timeless principle or path that will help us walk in this way.

This is relevant and pertinent. It is not jut accumulating knowledge.
Knowledge is applied.

The deficit of wisdom starts from failing to apply knowledge and accountability.

Beware of talk without action.

3. "...and WALK therein..."
Walk is the way you conduct and direct your life. It is the way you make inspired choices and take decisive actions.

Truth doesn't change lives.
Teach them to observe, do, live all things.
It is Truth applied that changes lives.

Discipleship is the Walk of Truth in Our Lives.

Implications for discipleship today:
1. It's all about rooted ness.
Go back to the timeless scriptures.

2. Ivan Illich - the key to societal change

He is an educator, caregiver and disciplinarian.

Key to societal change:
reform or revolution?
Eternal: tell a story that is compelling and irresistible.

The scripture points us to Jesus.
It's all about Jesus!
It's fundamental and imperative!
Live it out!
Rev. Edmund Chan with Trisha Sebastian in the Global Discipleship Congress
Rev. Edmund Chan with Trisha Sebastian in the Global Discipleship Congress

3. When you are at a cross road in life,
Return to the CROSS road.

The Holy Spirit enlightens us to the Word of god.
The Holy Spirit empowers us to live out the Word of God.

It is a Redemptive calling
A Redemptive mission...
It's a love relationship!

When people pointed to your walk, is it congruent to the word of God?

Your purpose in life?

"But what about you? Who do you say I am?" - Jesus

The Gospel is not Nothing, it is everything to us.

Rest. Look up to Him and allow Him to live His life to us.

His Love Endures Forever

I thank my Lord for answering my prayers in the Global Discipleship Congress.

As I was needing His love to sustain me... He respond to me through a song in the cab on my way home...

Kanlungan by Noel Cabangon

Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon

Natatandaan mo pa ba,
Nang tayong dalwa'y ang unang nagkita

When I first experienced God...

Panahon ng kamusmusan
I was like a child...

Sa piling ng mga bulaklak at halaman
With trees who are planted beside the streams...

Doon tayong nagsimulang
That is where we first started

Mangarap at tumula
His words showed me my dreams and vision

Natatandaan mo pa ba,
Inukit kong puso sa punong mangga
He has carved my name... To a fruitful tree

At ang inalay kong gumamela
Magkahawak-kamay sa dalampasigan
He will walk beside me

Malayang tulad ng mga ibon
Free to worship  Him

Ang gunita ng ating kahapon
Are My great memories with Him

Ang mga puno't halaman
Ay kabiyak ng ating gunita
Sa paglipas ng panahon
Bakit kailangan ding lumisan

Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon

Ngayon ikaw ay nagbalik
Now that He has called me back

At tulad ko rin ang iyong pananabik
His love for me stays the same

Makita ang dating kanlungan
It's nice to be back where I feel Him taking care of me...

Tahanan ng ating tula at pangarap
And I found it through His word

Ngayon ay naglaho na
Saan hahanapin pa

Lumilipas ang panahon
Kabiyak ng ating gunita
Ang mga puno't halaman
Bakit kailangan lumisan

Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon
Lumilipas ang panahon
Kabiyak ng ating gunita
Ang mga puno't halaman
Bakit kailangan lumisan

Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon
