World Day against Child Labor Batang Malaya

Could you believe that there are about one in five kids in Philippines who works as a laborer?
And over three million of them work in unsafe conditions?

During the Batang Malaya: Child labour free Philippines Campaign Launch, by National Child Labor Committee, headed by its Chairperson, who is also the Department of Labor and Employment Secretary, Rosalinda Baldoz, with National Statistics Office Administrator, and International Labour Organization Country Office Director of the Philippines Lawrence Jeff Johnson, the current situation of child labor in the Philippines was presented.

This campaign of the National Child Labor Committee is hinged on the realization of the Philippine Program against Child Labor in pursuit of a child labor-free Philippines.

A parade of over hundred former child laborers marched against child labor together with celebrities and advocates was held to mark the beginning of the Press Conference at the Fun Ranch Ortigas Avenue corner C5 Pasig City, across Tiendesitas and Frontera Verde on 26 June 2012, Tuesday at 6:00 a.m.

The march has three three pit stops, where the kids were clothed with shirts by Teen Azkals, Makisig Morales, Pinoy Big Brother Double up Housemate Paul Jake Castillo,

Unlimited Housemates Jerico, Divine Maitland Smith with Mikhaela Jade Gregory, Umagang Kay Ganda Hosts Venus Raj and Andrei Felix, which aims, to symbolize, giving the deprived childhood back to the previous child laborers. Cosplayers added  fun and color to this march. The pit stops were specifically: Malayang Maglaro (Free to Play), Malayang Makapag-aral (Free to Study), and Malayang Maging Ligtas at Malusog (Free to be Healthy). Free to Play, Free to Study, and Free to be Healthy.

A remarkably catchy and upbeat song was sung by the cute and charming younger brother of Makisig Morales, Maliksi Morales, which will be the official campaign song against child labor, entitled “Batang Malaya ”.
